Pro's: ?The material is obviously not super high quality but it's functional. ?Pockets are deep enough so you pocket treasures don't fall out when you sit down.? The pattern and colors are good. The stitching is minimal but functional.? While these are new and I can't say for sure, they do look like they will last an appropriate length of time.Con's: ?For some unfathomable reason the slits for the buttons on the pockets are VERTICAL instead of horizontal. It makes opening and closing the pockets an exercise in anger management. It's a HUGE pain in the @$$ to try and button and unbutton the side and back cargo pockets. Whoever decided that was a good idea should be publicly flogged. You're probably thinking "it can't be that difficult to use buttons with the slit vertical instead of horizontal" and I thought the same thing but here we are. It's a genuine PIA.?The little tighteners on the waistband are something I've used a lot during my time in the military and I really like them but unfortunately the tightener on the left side of these shorts does not hold so as soon as you pull to tighten it slides right back open rendering it completely useless. This issue compounds the following issue.?The Rothco size chart on this page does NOT give an accurate representation of size nor does it match actual size of the shorts. According to the size chart the size I bought should have been close to the exact size of the person I bought these for but they were MUCH larger. I measured the inside waistband and the shorts were THREE full inches larger than they were supposed to be.?When they increase the size of the shorts they do so incrementally across every measurement. In most human beings, if our waist gets bigger (and unfortunately it happens) our legs don't get bigger around by the same margin. Our legs don't get longer by the same margin. Despite this, when Rothco makes their shorts bigger they increase all the other measurements when increasing the waist size. So that when you get to larger waist sizes you end up with shorts that have giant leg holes and come down past your knees. The person I bought these for is 5'10 and the hem of the shorts is below the knees! My sister joked that they look like capri pants. So I'm in a quandary as to rating these. I should have returned them and tried a size smaller because I ordered based on the size chart which isn't accurate nor are the sizes on the shorts but foolishly I had already removed the tag and washed them hoping to shrink them. Overall these are pretty good shorts but the button slits being vertical isn't really a deal killer but it is a huge negative in my opinion if you plan on using the pockets and that's the point of buying cargo shorts to begin with. The weird measurements used which cause grossly over sized leg holes and comically long legs are also a big negative on these shorts. They look good overall and the quality is acceptable but they definitely have problems. I wish I had just returned them and ordered a size smaller. That's my fault for not returning them but it's Rothco's fault as well because the shorts were too big despite ordering based on their size chart. I'm extremely hesitant to recommend to others or to order a smaller size and see if this was a one off problem. There's a lot I like about these but the negatives outweigh the positives by too much to recommend.
